If you are a Seinfeld fan, then you certainly know the significance of the phrase, “Yadda, yadda.” During one entire episode, Jerry, Elaine, and the gang constantly used the phrase to skip over certain details. One particularly memorable exchange occurred when Elaine was describing a date and said, “So I had the lobster bisque, and yadda, yadda, I never went out with him again.” George was incredulous and accused Elaine…”You yadda yaddad the best part.” Elaine coyly replied, “I mentioned the bisque.” And I couldn’t help but wonder if the “et cetera” title isn’t kind of like “yadda yadda”… interesting, but less than necessary. But then I had to take a second look.

Sometimes the et ceteras of our days are actually the best parts. A Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha in the morning is of no great consequence to anyone, and yet it never fails to bring a smile to my face and a tune to my lips. My husband will certainly attest to the et cetera status of my 50-some pairs of shoes, but the thrill of buying just one more pair of sexy, strappy black heels is completely irresistible. A sparkly brooch, a new lipstick, a pair of fishnet stockings…all et ceteras, extras, things beyond necessities, but wonderfully fun parts of life.

I hope that this section of love in bloom is kind of like a White Chocolate Mocha or a new pair of (non-sensible) shoes; a delicious little extra that will serve as a sweet distraction from the stresses of each day.
